500 Rum: The Perfect Online Card Game for Friends and Family
500 Rum, also known as Rummy 500, is an engaging online multiplayer card game designed to be enjoyed with friends and family.
Now you can play 500 Rum against opponents from around the globe. Challenge your loved ones by creating a private table for exclusive gameplay.
How to Play
The 500 Rum card game uses a standard 52-card deck plus one Joker. In a two-player game, each participant is dealt 13 cards, while in games with three or four players, everyone receives seven cards.
The objective of 500 Rum is to accumulate points by forming sets and sequences (runs) and laying them on the table. The game proceeds in rounds until one player reaches a total score of 500 points.
A turn begins when a player draws either from the stockpile or the discard pile.
If you draw from the discard pile, you cannot immediately discard that same card. However, players are allowed to pick up multiple cards from the discard pile if they can use them in melds.
Melding and Scoring
Players must form sets and sequences, referred to as "melds," and lay them on the table to earn points based on the card values within those melds.
- Sets: Groups of cards sharing the same rank.
- Sequences (Runs): Consecutive cards of the same suit. The Joker acts as a wild card in this context.
Additionally, players can lay off their own cards onto existing melds already on the table to score extra points.
Point Values
In 500 Rum, points are awarded for cards used in new melds or laid off. Numbered cards (2 through 10) count as face value. Royal cards (Jack, Queen, King) are worth 10 points each. Aces are valued at 15 points, and the Joker takes on the point value of the card it represents within a meld.
Ending a Round
A round concludes when a player successfully discards their final card. The total score for that round is calculated by summing all melds and laid-off cards, then subtracting the value of any unmelded cards remaining in hand. The player with the highest net score wins the round.
Winning the Game
Scoring accumulates across multiple rounds. Each round's result is added to your cumulative total. The first player whose overall score reaches or exceeds 500 points wins the game. In case of a tie, an additional playoff round determines the winner.
Skill and Strategy
500 Rum challenges you to improve your initial hand through strategic play on every turn. The game demands focus and skill, as players must decide whether to draw from the discard pile to enhance their melds or lay off cards onto existing sets to boost their score. This dynamic makes for an exciting test of strategy.
Privacy and Ease of Use
500 Rum respects your privacy by requiring no personal details beyond a simple profile creation. Whether playing online multiplayer matches or with friends, the game does not collect or share invasive personal data. It is easy to learn, simple to play, and highly addictive.
