Application Description

Auction Bridge and International Bridge (IB) are variations of the classic Bridge card game.

As the third evolutionary stage of traditional bridge games, Auction Bridge & International Bridge (IB) evolved from straight bridge (also known as bridge whist). Serving as the direct predecessor to contract bridge, these games trace their origins back to whist and bridge whist.

The scoring system in Auction Bridge & IB differs significantly from contract bridge, with distinct approaches to trick scoring, bonuses, and penalties. Notably, Auction Bridge & IB doesn't incorporate the vulnerability concept found in contract bridge.

While trump selection rules share similarities with contract bridge, the latter features more complex mechanisms. The gameplay and rules otherwise remain largely comparable between both versions.

The dealer initiates trump selection and must declare the intention to win at least the odd trick in a trump suit or No-trumps. Higher bids are determined by point value rather than trick count (excluding doubles). For instance, 3 Spades (27 points) would outrank 4 Clubs (24 points).

Scoring for tricks beyond six:

Notrumps: 10 points

Spades: 9 points

Hearts: 8 points

Diamonds: 7 points

Clubs: 6 points

A game requires 30 points
