Application Description

Boerenbridge, commonly referred to as Chinese Pooping in Flanders, is an engaging card game that combines strategy and prediction. Here's how to keep track of points and understand the gameplay:

Objective and Gameplay Overview

The main goal of Boerenbridge is to accurately predict the number of "strokes" or tricks you will win in each round. The game progresses through rounds where the number of cards dealt to each player increases and then decreases, culminating in a final round.

Round Structure

  1. Dealing Cards: The game starts with one card dealt to each player in the first round, two cards in the second round, and so on, up to a maximum number of cards (e.g., 10 cards per player with five players). After reaching the maximum, the number of cards dealt decreases back to one card per player in the final round.

  2. Bidding: Starting from the player to the left of the dealer, each player predicts the number of strokes they expect to win. The last player to bid (the dealer) must ensure that the total number of strokes predicted does not equal the total number of cards dealt in that round. For example, if seven cards are dealt to each player in a round, and the first three players bid 0, 3, and 2 strokes respectively, the dealer cannot bid 2 strokes because that would make the total equal to 7 (0 + 3 + 2 + 2 = 7).

  3. Playing the Round: The highest bidder sets the trump suit. Players then play cards in turns, aiming to win strokes based on their bids. The player who wins a stroke leads the next one.

Scoring Points

  • Accurate Prediction: If a player correctly predicts the number of strokes they win, they score points equal to the number of strokes predicted. For example, if a player bids 3 strokes and wins exactly 3 strokes, they earn 3 points.

  • Inaccurate Prediction: If a player's prediction is incorrect, they lose points equal to the absolute difference between their bid and the actual number of strokes won. For instance, if a player bids 3 strokes but wins 2, they lose 1 point (3 - 2 = 1).

Game End and Winner Determination

The game continues through all rounds, from one card per player up to the maximum and back down to one card. After the final round, the player with the highest total score wins the game.
