Selon un récent rapport de Puck News, le président de Lucasfilm, Kathleen Kennedy, envisage de démissionner d'ici la fin de 2025, coïncidant avec la fin de son contrat actuel. Le producteur de films vétérans aurait envisagé de prendre sa retraite plus tôt en 2024, mais a choisi de retarder sa décision. Alors que Variety a cité une source proche de Kennedy rejetant ces affirmations comme «une pure spéculation», le Hollywood Reporter a corroboré l'histoire de Puck, ce qui lui donne un peu de crédibilité.

Kennedy a assumé son rôle chez Lucasfilm en 2012, étant initialement coprésidente aux côtés du fondateur du studio, George Lucas. Après le départ de Lucas, elle a été élevée au poste de président et a depuis dirigé la franchise Star Wars. Sous sa direction, Lucasfilm s'est lancée dans une nouvelle trilogie de suite, englobant les épisodes de Star Wars 7-9, et a inauguré l'ère du streaming avec des séries comme le Mandalorian, le livre de Boba Fett, Andor, Ahsoka, Skelet Key, et plus encore.
