No Man’s Sky's latest free Voyagers update is soaring in popularity, drawing the largest player count since the game's initial launch in 2016.
Sean Murray from Hello Games highlighted this milestone on X/Twitter, sharing a screenshot that marked 97,986 concurrent players at the time. He captioned it, "Highest number of players since launch," followed by a mind-blown emoji.
Since that post, the peak has climbed even higher, with Steam reporting a 24-hour peak of 98,285 simultaneous players.
No Man’s Sky is an exploration and survival game set in a boundless universe. The Voyagers update introduces a substantial set of features that the Hello Games team has been developing. Key additions include the new Corvette Ship Class, the ability to form a multiplayer crew, along with sky diving, redesigned cockpits, a fresh expedition, mission radar, and more.
A new experimental build has also just been released on PC, bringing further fixes and enhancements.
No Man's Sky isn't the only title experiencing a player surge this week. While Hollow Knight has maintained a stable player base over the past six months, the announcement of Hollow Knight: Silksong's release date—September 4!—has sparked enough interest and nostalgia to essentially double its usual player count overnight. This surge shattered the previous concurrent player record set in March 2022, a remarkable feat for a game originally released in 2017.
