Rumors are swirling that Assassin's Creed: Shadows could be heading to the Nintendo Switch 2, with recent comments from Ubisoft executives seemingly all but confirming its release.
In a recent quarterly earnings call, CEO Yves Guillemot and CFO Frederick Duguet offered a series of subtle—and not-so-subtle—hints regarding the game’s future. Taken together, their statements strongly point to a Switch 2 version launching within this fiscal year.
Early in the call, Duguet noted that Ubisoft’s lineup for the current fiscal year, which ends in March 2026, includes "a couple of other titles" slated for announcement at a later date.
Responding to an investor question later on, he explicitly stated, "We also have a game that will be launched on the Switch 2." While Star Wars: Outlaws is already confirmed for the platform, Duguet was referring to titles "beyond the announced releases," indicating at least one more game is in the pipeline.
Guillemot added another clue during the same call. Discussing Assassin's Creed: Shadows with another investor, he remarked, "We have also some new versions that will come on other machines."
Currently, Assassin's Creed: Shadows is available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, PC, Mac, GeForce Now, and Amazon Luna. While Guillemot’s comment could refer to other platforms like PlayStation 4, Xbox One, or mobile, the most plausible interpretation—especially when considered alongside Duguet’s statements—is that he meant the Nintendo Switch 2.
Unsurprisingly, at least one investor shared this line of thinking. The final question posed to Duguet directly asked whether Assassin's Creed: Shadows would be announced for Nintendo Switch 2.
This time, however, Duguet was more evasive, responding, "We haven’t said which other games will come on the console for that coming year."
Speculation about a Switch 2 version has been building for months, especially after a PEGI rating for Assassin's Creed: Shadows on Nintendo Switch 2 surfaced online. While this could have been a simple error, it adds to the growing body of evidence suggesting the game will arrive on Nintendo's new hardware within the next eight months.
Assassin's Creed: Shadows earned strong praise in our review at launch. Scoring an 8/10, our reviewer wrote, "By sharpening the edges of its existing systems, Assassin’s Creed Shadows delivers one of the finest versions of the open-world formula it has spent the last decade perfecting."
