One Battle After Another arrives on HBO Max on December 19, Warner Bros. has announced.
Paul Thomas Anderson’s comedic action thriller starring Leonardo DiCaprio makes its streaming debut just shy of three months after its theatrical release. The film will premiere on HBO linear the following day, December 20, at 8pm ET.
One Battle After Another leads this year’s Golden Globes with nine nominations, including Best Picture – Musical/Comedy, and also features Golden Globe nominees Teyana Taylor and Chase Infiniti. It is widely anticipated to be in the running for Best Picture at the Oscars.
The film is set to be released on Blu-ray, DVD, and 4K UHD on January 20, 2026. Additionally, fans can look forward to a collectible steelbook in 4K UHD this spring, featuring exclusive special features curated and produced by Anderson himself.
The streaming release follows One Battle After Another’s $204 million global box office performance ($71 million domestic, $133 million international). This marks the highest-grossing film of director Paul Thomas Anderson’s career, surpassing There Will Be Blood’s $76.4 million total from 2007. However, the film reportedly required around $300 million to break even at the box office.
Still, the movie is generating strong awards momentum, and its streaming debut on HBO Max is expected to further boost its visibility. IGN’s One Battle After Another review earned a 10/10. We wrote: "Paul Thomas Anderson and Leonardo DiCaprio finally team up, and the result is a 10/10 masterpiece."
