Deino Evolution: Guide to Capturing and Evolving in Pokémon Scarlet & Violet

This guide details how to obtain and utilize Hydreigon, a powerful Dark/Dragon-type Pokémon in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet. Hydreigon's pre-evolutions, Deino and Zweilous, are exclusive to Pokémon Scarlet, requiring trading or Pokémon HOME transfer to obtain them in Violet.

Acquiring Deino and Zweilous:

Pokémon Scarlet: Find Deino in Alfornada Cavern, Dalizapa Passage, Glaseado Mountain, Area Zero, and North Province (Area Two). Higher-level Deino (35-40) reside in Alfornada Cavern and Dalizapa Passage. Zweilous can also be found in these locations, as well as in 4-star Tera Raids. 3-star Tera Raids offer Deino with potential Hidden Abilities and varied Tera Types.
Pokémon Violet: Trading via the Union Circle (requires Nintendo Switch Online) or transferring from Pokémon HOME (compatible with Pokémon Sword/Shield, Pokémon GO, and Pokémon Scarlet) are necessary. Instructions for the HOME transfer method are provided below.

Pokémon HOME Transfer Steps:

Open Pokémon HOME. Move Deino from your chosen game to your Basic Box. Save and exit.
Open Pokémon Violet within HOME. Transfer Deino from the Basic Box to a PC Box. Save and exit.

Evolving Deino:

Deino evolves into Zweilous at level 50, and Zweilous evolves into Hydreigon at level 64. Utilize auto-battling or Exp. Candies (L and XL recommended) for efficient leveling.

Hydreigon boasts a 600 base stat total, excelling in Special Attack and Attack with good Speed. A Timid or Jolly Nature is recommended.

Super Effective Against: Dragon, Ghost, Psychic

Immunities: Ground, Psychic

Terastallizing mitigates Hydreigon's 4x Fairy weakness. Its moveset allows for both physical and special attacking strategies. Flash Cannon (via TM) is crucial to counter its Fairy weakness. Other recommended moves include Nasty Plot, Dragon Pulse (or Draco Meteor), and Dark Pulse.
