Netflix is reportedly developing a live-action Dungeons & Dragons series based on The Forgotten Realms setting, according to Deadline. The project brings together Deadpool & Wolverine director Shawn Levy, writer-showrunner Drew Crevello (WeCrashed), and Hasbro.
The Forgotten Realms serves as the primary fantasy world for Dungeons & Dragons, having been featured in both the Honor Among Thieves film and Larian Studios' acclaimed Baldur's Gate 3 video game.
Deadline describes this potential adaptation as "one of Netflix's most ambitious fantasy TV projects to date." Crevello has reportedly written the pilot script and will serve as showrunner, though Netflix and Hasbro haven't officially confirmed the news.
"Following extensive negotiations typical for high-profile IP deals, sources indicate the fantasy series is now moving forward at Netflix," Deadline's Nellie Andreeva reported. "If successful, this could potentially launch an entire D&D cinematic universe."
