Uncover the Secrets of Diablo 4's Forgotten Altars and Lost Powers
The Season of the Maelstrom in Diablo 4 introduces a captivating new questline centered around Witchcraft Powers. These powers, categorized into Eldritch, Psyche, and Growth & Decay, unlock potent occult magic. Earning the favor of The Coven, through completing missions and accumulating Restless Rot, is key to mastering these abilities. This process allows you to upgrade Altars near the Tree of Whispers. However, beyond the main Altars lie the elusive Forgotten Altars, offering incredibly powerful Lost Powers.
The challenge lies in their unpredictable nature. Unlike the main Altars with fixed locations, Forgotten Altars randomly spawn within Sanctuary's dungeons. While the seasonal questline already guides you through numerous dungeons, finding these hidden altars requires some exploration and grinding. The reward, however, is well worth the effort, as the Lost Powers are among the game's most potent abilities.
Unlocking the Lost Powers
Successfully locating all Forgotten Altars in Diablo 4 unlocks a range of powerful Lost Powers. Below is a summary of these abilities and their effects:

| Breath of the Coven | Applying a Witchcraft Effect (Eldritch, Psyche, or Growth & Decay) that deals damage or applies Crowd Control boosts Attack Speed by X for 10 seconds, stacking per unique effect. At Rank 8: 40% Lucky Hit chance when bonuses from all three Witchcraft types are active. |
| Hex Specialization | Increases the potency of your Hex Effects by X. At Rank 10: 10% increased Critical Strike Chance against Hexed enemies. |
| Aura Specialization | Increases the size of your Aura Effects by X. At Rank 10: 50% increased Critical Strike Damage against enemies within your Aura. |
| Piranhado | When an enemy is affected by both a Hex and an Aura, a Piranhado is summoned, dealing X Physical damage over 12 seconds and pulling enemies in. Occurs once every 20 seconds. At Rank 5: Piranhado actively seeks nearby enemies. |
Remember, once unlocked, these Witchcraft Powers can be upgraded using Restless Rot from your inventory. Completing quests is crucial for accumulating the necessary resources.
