Formovie Episode One Hardware Review: Projection Heaven?

May 17,2025 Author: Liam

At Droid Gamers, we frequently receive various gadgets for review, but a projector like the Formovie Episode One is a fresh addition. Given its capability to stream mobile games onto a larger screen, it piqued our interest as an exciting piece of technology to explore.

Aimed at those mindful of their budget, the Episode One successfully delivers on its promise of affordability. While traditionally projectors come with a hefty price tag, this model stands out by offering a cost-effective solution, despite a few drawbacks.

Upon unboxing, you'll find the projector itself, a remote (batteries not included), a power cable, and a manual. While it doesn't possess the robust build of pricier models, its lighter weight of just three pounds enhances its portability, making it an easy companion for outings.

The unit features limited connectivity options, with only one USB-A port, one HDMI port, and a single audio jack. This is fairly standard for its price range and should suffice for most users' needs.

In terms of performance, the Episode One performs admirably for its cost. With 150 ISO lumens, it's not the brightest projector on the market, particularly struggling in bright sunlight. However, it excels in darker environments, as expected. Our tests showed that it handles films, TV shows, and streamed games with clear displays.

To achieve the best image quality, we found it necessary to position the projector at least 10 feet away from the screen. Additionally, the sound from the built-in speaker was serviceable but somewhat tinny, suggesting that pairing it with an external speaker would significantly enhance the audio experience.

The user interface of the Episode One is user-friendly, making setup and operation straightforward. Its minimalist approach, suited to its budget positioning, is easier to navigate than some more complex and expensive models we've encountered.

In conclusion, the Formovie Episode One is an excellent entry-level projector. It may not excel in any single area, but it's a reliable all-rounder that should meet the needs of most casual users perfectly.

*When you purchase an Episode One projector before May 27th, you'll receive a $15/€15 Netflix gift card. Click here to take advantage of this offer.*
