Game of Thrones: Kingsroad Reveals More Gameplay Details

Netmarble's upcoming mobile RPG, Game of Thrones: Kingsroad, gets a gameplay trailer and closed beta announcement. Set during the show's fourth season, this action-adventure title promises engaging combat and a rich narrative experience.

Key features highlighted in the trailer include:

  • Class-based progression: Players can choose from various character classes, such as knights and assassins.
  • Fully manual controls: Expect precise, player-driven combat.
  • Iconic characters: Jon Snow, Jaime Lannister, and Drogon are confirmed, alongside a new, original character.
  • Original storyline: A fresh narrative unfolds, expanding the Game of Thrones universe.

The closed beta test runs from January 16th to 22nd, 2025, in the US, Canada, and select European regions. Registration is available via the official website. A full launch is slated for later in 2025.

The game's announcement last November, and subsequent showcase at The Game Awards, generated significant buzz. Netmarble, known for titles like Marvel Future Fight and Ni no Kuni: Cross Worlds, aims to deliver "raw, aggressive, and destructive" combat. The game's potential to become a leading mobile RPG with a compelling story is high, leveraging the established lore and characters from George R.R. Martin's work and the HBO series. The over-one-minute trailer showcases the game's polished visuals and dynamic combat system. The new character is described as an heir to House Tyre in the North, drawing inspiration from Wildlings, Dothraki, and the Faceless Men.

While fans eagerly await The Winds of Winter, Game of Thrones: Kingsroad offers a substantial interim experience for fans of the franchise, alongside other projects like A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms and House of the Dragon season 3.
