Metro Quester – Hack & Slash has just hit the Android scene, and it's not your typical KEMCO title. While it retains the essence of a turn-based JRPG, this game dives deeper into the gritty, old-school dungeon crawler experience.
In Metro Quester – Hack & Slash, you play as a scavenger, leading your crew underground in a desperate search for resources to meet your weekly food quota. The critical number to remember is 100 – you need to gather 100 units of food every seven in-game days to survive.
Your mission takes you into monster-filled ruins, exploring areas like Otemachi and Ginza, scavenging for leftovers. Remember, you can't level up your characters until you return to a safe camp, provided you've survived the perilous journey and collected enough supplies.
Choose from 24 unique characters, each belonging to one of eight distinct classes. Customize your combo skills, weapons, and strategies to fit your playstyle. Each ability uses up action points, and you're limited to just five points per turn, with only one use per ability each round, making strategic planning essential.
As you navigate the dungeon, it unfolds before you. You might uncover food hidden in the dirt, stumble upon monster nests, pick up keys to unlock new areas, or even discover a campground where you can establish a new base.
The game's aesthetic is deliberately minimal, maintaining a bleak and colorless environment that starkly contrasts with your vibrant team. You can get a closer look at the game's atmosphere in the official trailer below.
For those who enjoy replaying games with increased difficulty, Metro Quester – Hack & Slash offers a NEW GAME+ mode after you've conquered the main content.
Available now on Android for $14.99, the game does not support game controllers and is offered in English and Japanese. You can download it from the Google Play Store.
