Despite the introduction of exciting new content like characters, maps, and modes, the balance changes have sparked controversy, particularly affecting the Strategist class. Traditionally serving as the game's support pool, Strategists have found themselves overshadowed by stronger classes like Vanguards and Duelists. This shift has led to frustration among Strategist players, who are experiencing not only tough matches but also toxic interactions from teammates.
In response to community feedback, NetEase Games, the developers behind Marvel Rivals, have announced plans to address these concerns. Their strategy focuses on two key areas: enhancing the Strategist class and improving the fairness of the Competitive mode. Upcoming updates promise to increase the "threat levels" of Strategist heroes through buffs, potentially strengthening characters like Invisible Woman or Jeff the Land Shark. At the same time, adjustments will be made to reduce the survivability of powerful Vanguards such as Captain America and Groot, while tweaking abilities like Spider-Man's Amazing Combo for better balance.
While details on specific changes remain under wraps, NetEase emphasizes caution in their mid-season adjustments. They aim to refine the gameplay experience for certain heroes without drastically altering the meta. Looking ahead to Season 2.5, the arrival of Ultron and new Team-Up Abilities will provide opportunities for broader balance tweaks.
In addition to these changes, NetEase plans to recalibrate performance ratings in Competitive mode. This aims to create a fairer playing field across all roles, addressing disparities that currently favor Duelists over other classes. The developers acknowledge balancing challenges but assure players of their commitment to continuous improvement.
