Xbox Game Pass is enhancing its rewards program with the introduction of Quests for PC users, launching January 7th. This update brings significant changes, primarily focusing on creating "age-appropriate gaming experiences."
Key Changes:
-
Quests Expand to PC: PC Game Pass members (18+) will now have access to Quests, previously exclusive to Xbox Game Pass Ultimate. This unlocks new ways to earn points.
-
Age Restriction: Access to Quests and the Rewards Hub is restricted to players 18 and older. Those under 18 will not benefit from this update.
-
New Quest Types: The updated system features daily, weekly, and monthly quests, designed to encourage exploration of the Game Pass catalog. These include:
- Daily Play: Earn 10 points daily by playing any Game Pass title for 15 minutes.
- Weekly Streaks: Play for at least five days a week to earn points, with multipliers increasing for consecutive weeks (2x for two weeks, 3x for three, and 4x for four or more).
- Monthly Packs: Earn points by playing four (Monthly 4-Pack) or eight (Monthly 8-Pack) different games for 15 minutes each per month. The 4-Pack games count towards the 8-Pack.
- PC Weekly Bonus: 150 points awarded for playing at least 15 minutes for five or more days a week.
-
Simplified System: The revamped Quest system streamlines point earning, making it easier to track progress and redeem rewards.
-
Rewards Hub Accessibility: The Rewards Hub, accessible via Xbox console, the Xbox app for Windows PC, and the Xbox mobile app, is no longer available to users under 18. Younger players can only earn rewards through parental purchases from the Microsoft Store.
The changes aim to provide more engaging ways for players 18 and older to utilize their Game Pass subscriptions, while maintaining age-appropriate content access.
