Nintendo Confirms Switch 2 Games to Cost More

Nintendo has revealed the upgrade costs for two more Switch titles from their original Switch versions to the Nintendo Switch 2 Edition, specifically Kirby and the Forgotten Land and Super Mario Party Jamboree — and the prices are notably higher.
While upgrading The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild and The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom costs $9.99 each, NintendoLife reports that the upgrade fees for the Kirby and Mario Party games are more than double that amount.
The Nintendo Switch 2 Enhanced Edition of Breath of the Wild includes improved visuals and performance, achievements, and compatibility with the new "Zelda Notes" feature in the Nintendo Switch Online app. Existing Switch owners must purchase a separate $10 "upgrade pack" to access these new features.
The Switch 2 Edition of Kirby and the Forgotten Land adds new story content called Star-Crossed World. The Switch 2 Edition of Super Mario Party Jamboree introduces a new mode, Jamboree TV, designed for the Joy-Con 2's mouse controls, the Switch 2 microphone, and an optional USB-C camera. Beyond enhanced 1440p TV resolution and improved frame rates, this edition also comes with new minigames and online features.
Though the American Nintendo eShop has yet to list U.S. prices — potentially due to uncertainty regarding President Trump's tariffs — the UK Nintendo eShop shows the Kirby and the Forgotten Land upgrade pack priced at £16.99 / €19.99. This is over twice the £7.99 / €9.99 fee for upgrading Breath of the Wild or Tears of the Kingdom.
The Super Mario Party Jamboree upgrade, which includes the Jamboree TV content, is priced similarly. This strongly suggests a U.S. price point of $19.99.
The $20 upgrade fee for these two games may be linked to their full Switch 2 Edition prices: both Kirby and the Forgotten Land and Super Mario Party Jamboree, including their respective expansions, retail for a steep $79.99. Their original Switch versions are priced $20 lower at $59.99 each.
Here's how much Nintendo Switch 2 Edition games cost in the U.S. for those not upgrading:
Kirby and The Forgotten Land - Nintendo Switch 2 Edition + Star Crossed World - $79.99The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild – Nintendo Switch 2 Edition - $69.99Super Mario Party Jamboree - Nintendo Switch 2 Edition + Jamboree TV - $79.99The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom – Nintendo Switch 2 Edition - $79.99
It's important to note that the upgrade packs for Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom are available at no extra charge for Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack subscribers. Currently, there is no equivalent offer for players looking to upgrade Kirby or Party Jamboree.
Pre-orders for the Nintendo Switch 2 went live earlier today, April 24, with the console price holding at $449.99 — and the process went about as smoothly as anticipated. In related news, Nintendo has issued a warning to U.S. customers who placed a pre-order through the My Nintendo Store, stating that release date delivery is not guaranteed due to overwhelming demand.
