The newest installment in the Oceanhorn franchise, Chronos Dungeon, marks a bold departure from its predecessors. Instead of continuing with 3D graphics, the developers have embraced a nostalgic top-down pixel art style reminiscent of classic 16-bit arcade adventures.
What's the plot of Oceanhorn: Chronos Dungeon?
The magnificent White City has vanished, consumed by the relentless passage of time and rising seas. All that remains are fragmented islands adrift in the mysterious Uncharted Sea. Amid these ruins of a once-great civilization, four bold adventurers pursue ancient myths and lost arcane knowledge.
Their quest leads them to the Chronos Dungeon - an ever-changing underground maze where the very fabric of history could be altered. At its heart lies the Paradigm Hourglass, an artifact rumored to possess the power to rewrite the past.
But this journey won't be simple. The dungeon constantly reshapes itself, generating new layouts with each visit. While ensuring no two adventures are identical, the game also incorporates zodiac-based mechanics that uniquely affect each hero.
Oceanhorn: Chronos Dungeon features four distinct character classes: the stalwart Knight, the deadly Huntress, the wise Grandmaster, and the powerful Mage. Players can freely swap between these heroes at any time.
Designed as a cooperative multiplayer experience for up to four players, the game also allows solo adventurers to control all four heroes simultaneously. Even if teammates drop out mid-game, remaining players can seamlessly take over their characters.
