PlayStation Portal Price Slashed to $148 for Used Units on Amazon

Nov 16,2025 Author: Anthony

The PlayStation Portal, previously undiscounted, now offers savings on used units. Amazon Resale (formerly Amazon Warehouse) stocks Used: Like New PS Portals for $148 with free shipping. Originally priced at $199 new, this represents a 26% discount. A Sony warranty may or may not apply, but Amazon Resale provides a 30-day return policy identical to new items. Expect these units to sell out quickly.

Update: Price now at $150.23, the lowest recorded for a Used: Like New unit.

The PS Portal, Sony’s handheld companion for the PS5, resembles a DualSense controller extended with an 8-inch 1080p LCD screen. It transforms your PS5 into a portable gaming device by streaming games at up to 60fps. The Portal replicates DualSense features, including haptic feedback, adaptive triggers, and a touchscreen substituting the touchpad. It supports streaming games remotely, provided you have a highly stable, high-speed internet connection. Note that the PS Portal requires a PS5 to function, as it is not a standalone device.

The PS Portal no longer demands a PS5 for gameplay. Sony’s new feature allows streaming directly from the PlayStation Now cloud service, bypassing the need for a $500 console. Portal users can connect to their PS5 or Sony’s cloud servers (with recent beta updates launched in April). Opting for the cloud grants access to over 120 titles, such as Ghost of Tsushima, Resident Evil 3 Remake, The Last of Us Part 1 Remastered, and Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales. A PlayStation Plus Premium subscription is required, but $18 monthly is far more affordable than a $500 console plus $70 per game.

Streaming PS5 games over Wi-Fi isn’t exclusive to the PS Portal. The PS Remote Play app on mobile devices, including handhelds like the Steam Deck, offers similar functionality. However, setup is more complex, and some DualSense features may not be supported.

PlayStation Portal Review by Seth Macy

"The PlayStation Portal exceeded my expectations, transforming skepticism into delight. It outperforms phone-based controllers and delivers a seamless experience. I love the flexibility to play my PS5 anywhere with reliable WiFi, especially when the TV is occupied by family playing the Switch. As a remote-play device requiring a PS5, its limitations include no support for WiFi needing browser login and no Bluetooth audio. Despite these, it’s the best PlayStation Remote Play solution available. If not for those drawbacks, it would be essential for every PS5 owner who loves handheld gaming or shares a household TV."
