Pokémon TCG Pocket Update: Trading Feature Delayed Until Autumn

May 05,2025 Author: Daniel

The launch of Pokémon Trading Card Game Pocket was met with excitement, but it quickly faced challenges with its trading system. Initially, the trading feature was criticized for its cumbersome Trading Token system and restrictive trading policies. However, a recent update promises significant improvements to address these issues.

The most notable change is the complete removal of Trading Tokens. Now, trading cards of three-diamond, four-diamond, and one-star rarity will require Shinedust instead. Players will earn Shinedust by opening booster packs and receiving cards that are already registered in their Card Dex. This new system aims to make trading more accessible and less restrictive.

For those who have accumulated Trading Tokens, there's good news: these can be converted into Shinedust. This is particularly important as Shinedust is also used to obtain flair, and further modifications to the Shinedust system are planned. Additionally, an upcoming update will introduce a feature allowing players to share cards they're interested in trading directly within the game.

Trading spacesAs previously mentioned, the initial implementation of trading in Pokémon TCG Pocket felt somewhat half-hearted. The digital environment necessitates stricter controls to prevent abuse, but the original system was overly restrictive. These changes, while promising, are scheduled to roll out by autumn, leaving players waiting through the spring and summer. This slower pace of addressing issues has been a point of frustration for many in the community.

If you're hesitant to dive back into Pokémon TCG Pocket until these updates are implemented, consider exploring some of the exciting new mobile games featured in our latest top five list. There's plenty to keep you entertained while you wait for the trading system to improve.
