Trailer Features Gameplay and Boss Battle

The newly released Ratatan gameplay trailer offers fans an exciting glimpse into the game's mechanics, showcasing a thrilling battle against a colossal boss crab. This trailer was showcased during IGN Fan Fest Day 2 2025, courtesy of Ratatan Works, the game's developer.

The trailer highlights Ratatan's unique blend of rhythm roguelike action, seamlessly integrating rhythm game dynamics with side-scrolling action. One of the standout features is the online co-op mode, which supports up to 4 players simultaneously. Furthermore, players can engage in epic battles with up to 100 characters on screen.

Ratatan is crafted by Hiroyuki Kotani, the original creator of Patapon, and features music by Kemmei Adachi, who also contributed to Patapon's soundtrack. The game's Kickstarter campaign, which kicked off in 2023, successfully met its console launch stretch goal, ensuring a release on various gaming consoles.

Closed Beta Begins on February 27, 2025

Mark your calendars: Ratatan's closed beta is set to commence on February 27, 2025, according to their Kickstarter page. Kazuto Sakajiri, the producer of Ratatan, shared insights on the game's progress and future events.

Sakajiri proudly announced that Ratatan has surpassed 100,000 wishlists on Steam and garnered positive feedback on their Ratatan Original Soundtrack Demo. Although the game won't be featured at the upcoming Steam Next Fest, the focus is firmly on perfecting the closed beta. The team aims to roll out a refined demo version for the Steam Next Festival in June.

During the closed beta, players can expect to experience up to Stage 1 initially, with Stages 2 and 3 being added progressively over the course of the month-long test. Sakajiri also noted that "Details on code distribution, start date, and time will be shared via Discord and X once finalized."

Ratatan is slated for release in 2025 across multiple platforms including PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and PC. While an exact release date remains under wraps, anticipation continues to build for this innovative title.
