Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge Unveiled: Incredibly Thin Design

May 14,2025 Author: Julian

Samsung unveiled the Galaxy S25 Edge at its May Unpacked event, introducing its latest top-end smartphone. While closely related to the earlier 2025 release of the Galaxy S25, the S25 Edge boasts a notably thinner profile, giving it a distinctive edge in design.

In terms of specifications, the Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge mirrors the Galaxy S25 Ultra closely, featuring the same Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset and a powerful 200MP camera. The primary distinction lies in its chassis, which has been refined to an impressive 5.8mm thickness, down from the 8.2mm of the S25 Ultra. This slimmer design also reduces the phone's weight to just 163g, making it more comfortable to carry.

Despite its thinner build, the Galaxy S25 Edge retains the same 6.7-inch AMOLED 2X display found in the standard Galaxy S25, which is slightly smaller than the 6.9-inch screen of the S25 Ultra.

Given its large size and thin profile, concerns about the durability of the Galaxy S25 Edge are understandable. Samsung addresses these concerns by upgrading to Gorilla Glass Ceramic 2, which is touted to be more durable than the Gorilla Glass Armor 2 used in the S25 Ultra. The real test, however, will be its resilience against everyday pressures, like sitting on it in your pocket—hopefully avoiding a repeat of the infamous "bendgate" incidents.

The Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge comes equipped with the same "Mobile AI" tools that were introduced with the Galaxy S24 and enhanced throughout 2025. Thanks to the Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset, much of the AI processing can be handled locally on the device, enhancing privacy. However, many AI applications still depend on cloud computing. Samsung's unique features include the ability to summarize notifications and news articles at a glance, which could be particularly useful for busy users.

Preorders for the Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge start today, with pricing set at $1,099 for the 256GB model and $1,219 for the 512GB version. The phone is available in three stylish color options: Titanium Silver, Titanium Jet Black, and Titanium Icyblue.

Samsung emphasizes the durability of this sleek device, and consumers will be eager to see if these claims hold up in real-world use.
