Squid Game: Unleashed set to receive new characters and events to celebrate season two of the show

Squid Game: Unleashed is celebrating the arrival of Season Two with a wave of new content! Get ready for new characters, a fresh map, and exciting challenges. Plus, watching the new episodes unlocks exclusive in-game rewards!

Netflix's surprising move to offer Squid Game: Unleashed free to all players—even non-subscribers—before the holidays has paid off. Now, with this Season Two content drop, they're cleverly incentivizing both existing and potential subscribers to engage with the show.

What's in store for current players? Starting January 3rd, a new map inspired by the Season Two mini-game "Mingle" launches. New playable avatars include Geum-Ja, Yong-Sik, and rapper Thanos (not the Marvel villain!).

Geum-Ja and Thanos each have special in-game events running from January 3rd to 9th and January 9th to 14th respectively, allowing players to unlock them. And for those watching the show, there are additional rewards! Watching episodes of Squid Game Season Two earns in-game Cash and Wild Tokens. Watching seven episodes unlocks the stylish Binni Binge-Watcher outfit!

Here's the January content calendar for Squid Game: Unleashed:

  • January 3rd: The Mingle map and Geum-Ja arrive. The "Dalgona Mash Up Collection Event" begins, challenging players to complete Mingle-inspired mini-games and collect Dalgona tins until January 9th.
  • January 9th: Thanos joins the roster, with his own "Thanos’ Red Light Challenge" event. Players earn him by eliminating opponents with knives. This event runs until January 14th.
  • January 16th: Yong-Sik, the final character in this update, makes his in-game debut.

Squid Game: Unleashed might be a game-changer for Netflix's gaming ambitions. The initial free-to-play strategy was bold, but rewarding subscribers and encouraging viewership through in-game rewards is a brilliant way to connect the game and the show, creating a synergistic loop.
