The announcement of the shutdown of *Star Wars: Hunters* before it even reaches its first anniversary is a disappointing development for fans. However, the game will still celebrate its one-year milestone before the final curtain call. The question remains: is it worth celebrating the anniversary of a game that's on its way out?
When Is the Star Wars: Hunters Shutdown?
The servers for *Star Wars: Hunters* are scheduled to shut down on October 1st, 2025, marking the end of the game's journey after just nine months since its launch. Players have until April 15th to wrap up Season 5.
Zynga, the game's developer and publisher, is set to release a final content update on April 15th, which includes the introduction of a new Support Hunter, Tuya, available for free. On the same day, in-game purchases will be disabled.
Ranked Mode will remain active until the servers go offline, and events from the season will be rerun. Players are encouraged to use any unspent Crystals as there will be no refunds offered.
It Isn’t Shocking
While the shutdown is unfortunate, it may not come as a surprise to many. *Star Wars: Hunters* faced numerous challenges from the outset. Initially announced in 2020, the game experienced multiple delays and limited beta testing in the SEA and ANZAC regions.
The combination of a delayed launch, absence of major console support, and a tepid reception contributed to the game's struggles. Additionally, the game's design choices, such as opting for generic original characters over the iconic figures of the Star Wars universe, may have missed an opportunity to captivate a broader audience.
If you've uninstalled Star Wars: Hunters but are considering one last playthrough, the game remains available for download on the Google Play Store until the shutdown date.
