Palace – The Original Classic Card Game (Also Known as Shed, Karma, or "OG")
Back in the 90's, Palace was the go-to card game during study hall and lunch breaks at my high school. According to Wikipedia, it’s also a favorite among backpackers—and that’s helped make it a globally recognized classic.
** New features added based on user feedback: pickup pile anytime and 7 forces lower.
** Multiplayer mode now available—play with friends!
Challenge one of eight unique AI opponents, each with their own distinct play style, or test your skills in real-time against your friends.
Basic Rules of Palace:
Each player begins with 3 face-down cards. These must remain untouched until the end of the round. On top of those, you place 3 face-up cards. Finally, each player receives 3 cards to form their starting hand. You may swap cards between your hand and your face-up cards as needed before gameplay begins.
The player holding the lowest card—typically a 3—starts the game.
On your turn, discard one or more cards equal to or higher than the top card of the discard pile. If you play multiple cards, they must be of the same rank. After discarding, draw from the deck to maintain at least 3 cards in your hand—unless the deck is empty or you already hold 3 or more cards.
Special Cards:
- 2's act as wild cards and reset the pile.
- 10's clear the pile entirely.
- Four of a kind, regardless of value, also clears the pile.
If you cannot match or beat the top card and have no wilds, you must pick up the entire pile.
Once your hand is empty and the draw deck is exhausted, begin playing your face-up cards. When those are gone, flip over and play your face-down cards.
The first player to discard all their cards wins the round.
Palace is widely known by many names, including Shed, Karma, and "OG".
