Forza Horizon 4 Servers Shut Down December 15th

Forza Horizon 4's digital sunset is approaching. Microsoft has announced the popular racing title will be removed from digital storefronts, including the Microsoft Store, Steam, and Xbox Game Pass, on December 15, 2024. This means no new purchases of the game or its DLC will be possible after this date.

The critically acclaimed open-world racer, set in a picturesque, fictionalized Great Britain, has captivated over 24 million players since its 2018 release. While initially planned to remain available indefinitely, expiring licenses for in-game content necessitate its removal. DLC sales cease even sooner, on June 25th, leaving only the base game versions for purchase until the December deadline.

The news, revealed on the official Forza website, also details the upcoming final in-game series, Series 77, running from July 25th to August 22nd. Post-Series 77, the playlist screen will be unavailable, though daily and weekly challenges and Forzathon Live events will remain accessible via the Forza Events screen.

Existing players, whether digital or physical owners, can continue enjoying Forza Horizon 4 without interruption. Game Pass subscribers with active subscriptions who own DLC will receive a game token to maintain access. This delisting follows a trend in racing games, often driven by the expiration of licensing agreements for vehicles and music. Forza Horizon 3 faced a similar fate.

Currently, Steam offers an 80% discount on Forza Horizon 4, with an Xbox Store sale planned for August 14th. This presents a final opportunity for fans to acquire this beloved title before it's no longer available for purchase digitally.
