Application Description
READY! for Kindergarten is the premier school readiness program offered by The Children's Reading Foundation, tailored for children aged 2 to 5, and also suitable for older children who may need to catch up on core skills. This innovative program is designed to prepare your child for future academic success through engaging, interactive gameplay.
The READY! for Kindergarten app features a suite of games, each focused on developing a specific core skill. These games are crafted for repeated play, as young children thrive on hundreds of repetitions in a nurturing environment. To understand the skill each game targets, simply touch the "i" icon located in the lower right corner of each game's icon.
As your child engages with the games, the app continually updates the reports section with their progress data. This feature allows you to track your child's achievements in various skill areas, benchmarked against peers of similar age across the U.S. This valuable insight helps you identify and focus on areas where your child might need additional support.
For children aged 2 to 5, the app's games are designed to teach essential skills such as singing the ABC song, matching letter shapes, recognizing letter sounds, expanding vocabulary, rote counting to 30, and identifying emotions.
The READY! program is built on 26 Age-Level Targets, which are measurable skills that a typical 5-year-old should master before entering kindergarten. These targets were developed through rigorous research over seven years, in collaboration with early learning experts, families, scientists, and educators.
Recognized for its excellence, READY! for Kindergarten received a Top 100 Award from District Administration Magazine in 2013.
