Application Description

The VNeID application is a digital identification and authentication solution developed by the National Population Data Center under the Ministry of Public Security of Vietnam. Built upon population data infrastructure, this electronic ID app serves residents and travelers within Vietnam, offering secure and efficient means of personal identification in a digital format.

VNeID functions as a digital alternative to traditional paper-based documents. It enables citizens to verify their identity in digital environments, supports the development of digital citizenship, and contributes to building a digital government and society. The application facilitates essential services such as medical declarations and domestic travel registration. Additionally, it assists authorities in tracking potential secondary infections of COVID-19 and promptly notifying at-risk individuals.

Device Access Permissions

By using the VNeID application, users consent to the following device access permissions necessary for the app’s functionality:

1. Internet access from the user's device.
2. Camera access to scan QR codes on CCCD (Citizen Identity Card) cards, streamlining the input of citizen information and enabling fast travel and health declarations at scanning checkpoints.
3. Access to photos, videos, audio files, and other documents stored on the device for saving QR code images required for verification at checkpoints.
4. The ability to send notifications directly to the user's device.

Personal Information Collection

Users may enter personal data, submit health declarations, report domestic movements, or declare on behalf of others with appropriate permission. Collected personal information includes:

• Full name
• Phone number
• Citizenship Identification Number
• Gender
• Date of birth
• Permanent address
• Nationality
• Health status
• Departure location
• Destination
• Vehicle plate number
• Potential exposure to individuals with COVID-19

All data is collected with the user’s consent via official forms and submitted securely. Users are fully responsible for the accuracy and legality of the information they provide.

Privacy and Data Protection

User data is securely managed and stored by the National Population Data Center under the Ministry of Public Security. This information is used exclusively for public health purposes, including disease prevention and control, particularly related to [ttpp]. Data may be shared with health agencies and authorized governmental bodies to enhance epidemic response efforts.

The application strictly complies with Vietnamese law regarding data privacy and does not collect or use user information beyond the stated objectives. Under no circumstances is personal data used for commercial purposes or in ways that infringe upon individual privacy rights.

• No Location Tracking: VNeID does not collect or store any location data from users.
• Anonymity: Citizens can participate anonymously in community health monitoring. Only authorized officials have access to identify individuals confirmed or suspected of being infected through close contact with [yyxx] cases.
