Pokémon TCG: Scarlet and Violet - Prismatic Evolutions marks the pinnacle of the build-up to Pokémania 2025. The set's immense popularity led to sold-out preorders, with stock only now trickling back to shelves and online retailers. Despite the initial scarcity, it has quickly emerged as the crown jewel of the Scarlet and Violet era, showcasing beloved Eevee and its evolutions through breathtaking Special Illustration Rares and ultra-rare Master Ball foils.
With over 200 cards, including powerhouses like Roaring Moon ex and Pikachu ex, Prismatic Evolutions combines stunning artwork with competitive playability, making it a must-have for both trainers and collectors. Enhanced pull rates for Special Illustration Rares further sweeten the pot, offering fans a better chance at securing their dream cards amidst soaring demand.
However, my experience with pulls from Prismatic Evolutions has been challenging. While this may not be universal, it's a double-edged sword: the rarity of Special Illustration Rares and other high-value cards can help maintain their value. Yet, after opening 25 booster packs, the desired cards eluded me. Let's explore some of the exciting cards I did manage to pull, and delve into other rare additions that highlight why Prismatic Evolutions lives up to the hype.
While everyone's after the Eeveelution SIR cards, Prismatic Evolutions features some overlooked artwork that's worth grabbing if you find it at a good price.
Dragapult ex SAR 165/131 stands out as one of my favorite artworks from this set. I'm tempted to build a deck around Phantom Dive, a move that costs two energy for a combined 260 damage, with 60 spread across the opponent's bench. It's a powerful move, and this card's value could rise as trainers seek to include it in their decks.
So, is Prismatic Evolutions worth the hype? Absolutely. It offers a wealth of cards for both collectors and players, though you may need to be patient for stock availability. Eeveelution-themed sets are always exciting, but the odds of pulling an elusive Eeveelution SIR are slim at 1 in 900 booster packs.
The set also introduces God packs and Master Ball cards, which add to the excitement. The chance of pulling every SIR in one booster pack is slim, but the thrill of the chase is part of the fun.
Stock for Pokémon TCG: Prismatic Evolutions has been scarce, but it's slowly becoming more available. With the resurgence of Pokémon's popularity, driven by TCG Pocket, investors, and heightened demand for sets like Surging Sparks, it's a challenging time to enter the hobby. The Pokémon Company is working to restock shelves quickly, making Prismatic Evolutions a turning point for choosing between online and in-store purchases over the secondary market.
