For much of the 21st century, Final Fantasy games were PlayStation exclusives. However, with a nearly 40-year history and a need to reach new audiences (and boost sales!), Square Enix, like many publishers, has embraced multiplatform releases. Beyond PC ports, they've significantly focused on remastering and releasing special editions for Nintendo's handheld consoles.
This isn't entirely new territory. Final Fantasy's relationship with Nintendo goes back to its origins; the first six mainline entries debuted on Nintendo platforms before Square Enix shifted primarily to PlayStation with Final Fantasy VII.
With Final Fantasy VII: Rebirth's PC launch and a significant Magic: The Gathering crossover boosting the series' profile in 2025, many are eager to explore the world of Final Fantasy.
