Atelier Yumia: The Alchemist of Memories & the Envisioned Land Synthesis Guide

Apr 03,2025 Author: Harper

One of the most intricate components of *Atelier Yumia: The Alchemist of Memories & the Envisioned Land* is the Synthesis mechanic, which is central to nearly every aspect of the game. Every resource you gather and weapon you forge is intricately linked to this system. Here’s how you can maximize its potential.

Synthesis Types in Atelier Yumia

In Atelier Yumia, there are three distinct types of Synthesis:

  • Regular Synthesis: This is performed at an Alchemist’s altar and is essential for crafting weapons, armor, battle accessories, magical items, and materials needed for other Syntheses. Early in the game, you unlock the Atelier, which serves as a hub for regular Synthesis. In areas where you can build, such as cleared manabound zones or campsites, you can construct a Simple Altar to enable regular Synthesis.

  • Simple Synthesis: Accessible through the radial menu outside of battle, Simple Synthesis allows you to craft items like bandages, gauntlets for ziplines, and repair kits for treasure chests and ladders, provided you have the necessary resources.

  • Building Synthesis: Though not explicitly labeled as Synthesis, this type is accessed through the radial menu on specific plots of land. Here, Yumia engages in crafting storage chests and wall hangings, which the game often refers to as Synthesis.

How to Synthesize Equipment in Atelier Yumia

Synthesis in Atelier Yumia.

The most complex aspect of Synthesis is the regular form, conducted at altars. To craft, for instance, a gun staff for Yumia, you must first discover the recipe during your exploration. You can enhance existing recipes using particles from mana fountains at a Recipe Recall Station. Once you have the recipe, follow these steps at an Alchemist’s altar:

  1. Select the Type of Gun Staff: Choose the gun staff you wish to create.
  2. Select Synthesis Skills: If unlocked in the skill tree, these skills can be selected to enhance the item.
  3. Select the Initial Alchemy Core: Start with an Alchemy Core, which can be:
    • Effects Alchemy Core: Boosts selected skills.
    • Quality Alchemy Core: Increases the quality level of the finished item.
    • Trait Alchemy Core: Adds more Trait Crystal slots to the item.
  4. Fill the Slots: Use collected resources to fill the slots of each Alchemy Core.
  5. Collect Mana Fragments: Gather these to further increase the item's quality.
  6. Synthesize the Item: Complete the process to create your item.

To craft powerful items early in the game, unlock Synthesis Skills from the skill tree as soon as possible. These skills provide flat damage and quality boosts, and allow for item duplication, conserving resources.

You can enhance the item's quality by adding resources to all three Alchemy Cores. Use the left or right bumper to navigate between cores while filling slots. Collecting mana fragments (the yellow sparkles) for all three cores significantly strengthens the item, a strategy you should employ unless crafting quest-specific items.

When selecting resources, prioritize those that match the element type of the slots, identified by a blue outline. Organize your resources in the submenu to select higher-quality items first, though you might want to focus on effects instead.

If you prefer to bypass the complexity of manual Synthesis, opt for the auto-Synthesis feature after selecting Synthesis Skills. This option allows the game to optimize item creation, enabling you to tackle even the final boss on Normal difficulty with relative ease.

And that’s everything you need to know to fully leverage the Synthesis mechanic in Atelier Yumia.
