Bring Large Dung Pods
Hirabami presents a formidable challenge in Monster Hunter Wilds. Unlike many monsters that prefer solitude, Hirabami thrive in groups, complicating the fight. To manage this, equip yourself with Large Dung Pods. These invaluable items can disperse the monsters, allowing you to tackle them one at a time and increase your chances of success.
Use Heavy Slicing Pod Slinger Ammo
Hirabami's tendency to float in the air can be particularly frustrating, especially for melee weapon users. Ranged weapon users, such as those wielding Bows, will find it easier to engage. However, if you're using melee weapons, consider using Heavy Slicing Pod Slinger ammo. This can be launched from your Slinger to bring the Hirabami down. If you're out of ammo, aim to sever its tail, which drops a Tail Claw Shard that converts into the necessary ammo.
Utilize Environmental Traps
The arena where you'll face Hirabami is filled with environmental traps that can turn the tide of battle. In the Iceshard Cliffs, you'll find Ice Spikes, Floating Rubble, and Brittle Ice Pillars. Dropping any of these on Hirabami can stun and damage the creature, providing a crucial opening for attack.
Aim for the Head
The head is Hirabami's most vulnerable spot. While it often stays afloat, making it a challenging target, ranged weapon users will have an easier time hitting it. Melee fighters should aim for the neck when the creature descends, as the torso offers little damage due to its high defense.
Watch the Tail
Hirabami's unpredictable movements make it a tricky opponent. It frequently attempts to bite or spit at you and can launch a dive attack from the air. While these attacks are dodgeable if you keep an eye on its head, don't forget about its tail. Hirabami uses its tail like a hammer, and a swift strike from it can be devastating. Stay mobile and vigilant.

To capture Hirabami in Monster Hunter Wilds, you must first weaken it until its health drops to 20% or less. You'll know you've reached this critical point when a skull icon appears next to the monster's icon on the mini-map. At this juncture, deploy a Pitfall Trap or a Shock Trap to immobilize Hirabami.
Once trapped, swiftly administer a Tranquilizer to knock the creature out. You have only a brief window to act before it escapes, so timing is crucial. Successfully capturing Hirabami will conclude the fight, granting you standard rewards, though it may limit your chances of obtaining additional materials from targeting its weak spots.
That's all you need to know about defeating and capturing Hirabami in Monster Hunter Wilds. Don't forget to bring Large Dung Pods or use the SOS feature to make the fight more manageable.
