The Blood of Dawnwalker: A Dark Fantasy RPG Unveiled

Rebel Wolves, a studio comprised of former CD Projekt Red developers, recently showcased their upcoming open-world dark fantasy action RPG, The Blood of Dawnwalker, at a game reveal event. This narrative-driven title promises a unique experience.
Meet Coen, the Dawnwalker
Players embody Coen, a Dawnwalker – a being existing between human and vampire – in the fictional 14th-century European setting of Vale Sangora. Unlike typical protagonists, Coen is portrayed as emotionally complex and vulnerable. His journey begins with a confrontation against Brencis, an ancient vampire who has plunged Vale Sangora into chaos. Coen's mission: save his family within a 30-day/night timeframe. While the game adheres to this timeframe, developers emphasize extended gameplay possibilities. The reveal trailer showcases Coen's supernatural abilities, including enhanced agility and subtle magic use.

Addressing fan questions on Discord, Rebel Wolves clarified the nature of Dawnwalkers. They are not simply hybrids but a distinct entity. The game's magic system is described as grounded in the occult, focusing on rituals, amulets, and summonings rather than flamboyant spellcasting.
A Narrative Sandbox with Romance Options

Despite Coen's central quest, The Blood of Dawnwalker is designed as a "narrative sandbox," offering players significant agency in shaping the story. The nonlinear narrative and dynamic world react to player choices. To maintain the single-player experience, multiplayer or co-op modes are absent. However, the game will feature romanceable characters from various races, including uriashi, kobolds, and potentially werewolves, adding depth to Coen's solitary journey.
While a release date remains unannounced, The Blood of Dawnwalker is confirmed for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S.
