The Chinese Room studio has unveiled an exciting new development diary for *Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines 2*, packed with fresh gameplay footage. In this latest update, the developers showcased how players will engage in the thrilling act of hunting as a vampire within the game.
In the *Vampire: The Masquerade* universe, maintaining the secrecy of the vampire world is paramount, a concept known as the Masquerade. This principle is intricately woven into the mechanics of *Bloodlines 2* through the Masquerade meter, which tracks actions that could risk exposing the vampire's true nature to unsuspecting humans.
If players breach the Masquerade, they'll see the severity of their actions reflected through three distinct indicators on an eye icon located at the top of the screen:
- Green: This indicates a minor violation. Simply hiding is sufficient to resolve the situation.
- Yellow: At this level, the player has committed multiple infractions, possibly fed, or used aggressive powers. They must manage witnesses effectively or take care not to draw too much police attention.
- Red: The Masquerade has been severely broken, triggering a police chase. At this point, the best strategy is to flee and hide, as shown in the gameplay clip below. Once the meter is completely filled, the Camarilla will intervene to deal with the violator.
To mitigate their "infamy," players have several strategies at their disposal. They can manipulate witnesses to forget what they've seen or opt for the more drastic measure of eliminating them. If the police get involved, the safest approach is to hide and wait for the situation to calm down.
The developers have assured fans that the risk of exposing the vampire existence will escalate as the game progresses. To successfully maintain the Masquerade, players will need to be quick and decisive in their actions, ensuring they keep their vampiric identity under wraps.
