TouchArcade Rating:

Mobile game updates often improve optimization or compatibility. However, Capcom's recent update for Resident Evil 7 biohazard, Resident Evil 4 Remake, and Resident Evil Village on iOS and iPadOS introduces an online DRM system. This DRM verifies your purchase history upon launching the games, confirming ownership of the game and any DLC. Rejecting the check closes the game. This means these titles are no longer playable offline; an internet connection is now mandatory for initial launch.

Prior to this update, all three games functioned offline. This change is regrettable, as it negatively impacts the user experience. While some may not be affected, this forced online DRM on already-purchased games is concerning. Hopefully, Capcom will revise their purchase verification method to reduce its impact or implement it less frequently. This update unfortunately makes it more difficult to recommend Capcom's premium mobile ports.
The games offer free trials. You can download Resident Evil 7 biohazard on iOS, iPadOS, and macOS here, Resident Evil 4 Remake here, and Resident Evil Village here. My reviews are available here, here, and here. Do you own these Resident Evil titles on iOS, and what are your thoughts on this update?
