Dune: Awakening recently concluded its open beta weekend, during which fans uncovered a significant exploit that allows players to keep their enemies stunned indefinitely. This article delves into the details of this PvP-disrupting bug and outlines Funcom's plans to address it before the game's official launch.
Players Discover Game-Breaking Stunlock Exploit

The open beta weekend for Dune: Awakening offered players a glimpse into the first 20-25 hours of gameplay, along with various other features. During the Global LAN Party livestream on May 10, participants stumbled upon an exploit that enables players to stun their opponents in PvP indefinitely.
The "stunlock exploit" occurs when a player continuously uses quick knife attacks on an opponent who has depleted their stamina. This leaves the target unable to defend themselves, use abilities, or escape, effectively trapping them in a continuous state of stagger.
This issue gained widespread attention when popular streamers Tyler1 and Shroud showcased it during their livestreams of the game.
Funcom Promises Fix Before Launch

During the Global LAN Party livestream, Funcom developers directly observed the stunlock exploit and promptly acknowledged the problem. Dune: Awakening World Director Jeff Gagné and Lead Producer Ole Andreas Haley assured players that this issue would be resolved before the game's official release.
Gagné confidently stated, "We got this covered. It's not like 'Oh my god, we haven't thought about it.' It's already going away." With the open beta weekend now behind them, the developers have received valuable feedback and praise, which will help them refine the game ahead of its upcoming launch.
Dune: Awakening is slated for release on June 10, 2025, for PC, with PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S versions to follow at a later, yet-to-be-announced date. Stay updated with the latest news on the game by checking out our related articles below!
