Open Drive is not just another racing game for mobile; it's a groundbreaking title now available in early access on Android. Developed by SpecialEffect, a charity dedicated to enabling physically disabled gamers to enjoy video games, in collaboration with Sun & Moon Studios, Open Drive is setting new standards in gaming accessibility.
What’s the Game About?
At its core, Open Drive is designed with inclusivity in mind, offering a variety of control options including touch, keyboard and mouse, switch access, and controllers. This flexibility ensures that everyone can enjoy the game in their preferred way. One of the most innovative features is its mobile-specific eye control system, which allows players to steer by simply looking left or right using a compatible eye gaze camera. This feature is a significant advancement for accessibility, particularly for those with physical disabilities who are often excluded from games that only support traditional inputs.
The game spans four diverse open worlds: Stunt, Speed, Snow, and Meadow, each offering unique challenges and environments. Gameplay is incredibly versatile, allowing players to either relax and drive around collecting orbs or engage in high-speed chases and perform daring stunts with vehicles like the Roadster, Trickster, or Speedster. Players can also adjust the speed to suit their preference, making the game enjoyable for everyone.

Open Drive Is Now Out in Early Access
Open Drive's early access version is now available on Android, and it automatically detects and adjusts to your chosen control method. This includes full support for Switch Access on Android. Each control method has its own tailored setup: touch controls offer 'Precise' and 'Classic' modes for steering, while there are specific configurations for Switch Access, mouse, keyboard, and Android-compatible gamepads/controllers.
While the eye control feature is not fully implemented in the early access version, it is expected to be available when the full version launches later this summer. You can explore Open Drive now on the Google Play Store and experience this innovative game for yourself.
