Final Fantasy 14 Is Making A Change To Chaotic Raid Rewards

Summary

  • Responding to player feedback, Final Fantasy XIV Patch 7.16 will introduce a Clouddark Demimateria exchange system.
  • Players can trade Clouddark Demimateria I for Clouddark Demimateria II, facilitating acquisition of high-demand items like a mount and hairstyle.
  • Further adjustments based on player feedback are anticipated, potentially influencing future raid content updates.

Final Fantasy XIV recently announced a significant change to the reward structure of the Cloud of Darkness (Chaotic) Alliance Raid, arriving in Patch 7.16 on January 21st. This adjustment, directly resulting from player feedback, allows players to exchange excess Clouddark Demimateria I for Clouddark Demimateria II.

The Cloud of Darkness (Chaotic) Alliance Raid, introduced on December 24th following Patch 7.15, challenges up to 24 players against a challenging encounter. This fight incorporates mechanics from the Shadowbringers' Eden raid series, adding a fresh layer of difficulty for players. Successful completion rewards players with both Clouddark Demimateria I and II, with bonus Demimateria II awarded based on the number of first-time raid completions.

However, the initial reward distribution proved uneven, prompting Square Enix to implement the exchange system in Patch 7.16. While the exact exchange rate remains unannounced, this change will make the coveted A Half Times Two hairstyle and the Dais of Darkness mount more accessible. These items, requiring 49 and 75 Clouddark Demimateria II respectively, can also be bought and sold on the market board, potentially impacting their market prices with the upcoming update.

Final Fantasy XIV Adding Clouddark Demimateria Exchange In Patch 7.16

  • Final Fantasy XIV Patch 7.16 will introduce a Clouddark Demimateria exchange system in response to player feedback.
  • Players can exchange Clouddark Demimateria I for Clouddark Demimateria II at a rate yet to be disclosed.
  • The exchange facilitates the purchase of a hairstyle and a mount, both marketable on the in-game market board.
  • Further adjustments to the system are possible based on ongoing player feedback.

The changes to the Clouddark Demimateria system are a direct response to player concerns. Square Enix has indicated that further adjustments may be implemented in future updates. Patch 7.16, launching January 21st, 2025, following a brief maintenance period, will also feature the concluding chapter of the Dawntrail Role Quest series. Significant job balance updates, however, are anticipated in Patch 7.2. The impact of player feedback on future raid content throughout 2025 remains to be seen.
