This guide details acquiring and effectively employing the Flare Knife.
The Flare Knife, a valuable combat tool, becomes available relatively early. After achieving Level 003 Code Clearance, visit Zakka in The Warren. Zakka's inventory includes the Flare Knife, purchasable for 3,000 Entitlement Points.
Equip the Flare Knife via the Loadout menu within the Personal Responsibility Portal. Select an available Combat Item slot; the Flare Knife will be listed if acquired.
Designed for severing Abductor limbs, the Flare Knife is a reusable combat item. This allows players favoring Polearms or Heavy Melee weapons to sever limbs without relying on Light Melee options. However, it's a single-use item per operation; repurchase is necessary for subsequent engagements.
To utilize the Flare Knife, target the severable Abductor part and use your Thorn to grapple. With the Flare Knife equipped, a sever option appears, initiating a quick-time event (QTE). Successfully depleting the QTE bar severs the limb. Note that Abductors may interrupt by leaping or crashing.
Cooperative online play facilitates repeated snares, significantly easing the severing process.
