Every Google Pixel Generation in Order of Release
The original Google Pixel, launched in October 2016, was a trailblazer, being among the first smartphones to embrace USB-C technology. It featured a robust 12.3 megapixel camera and came in two sizes: the standard Pixel and the larger Pixel XL.
The Google Pixel 2, released in October 2017, brought significant upgrades, especially in its camera system with the addition of optical image stabilization. It also marked the controversial removal of the headphone jack but improved Bluetooth connectivity over its predecessor.
The Google Pixel 3, launched in October 2018, introduced notable changes such as slimmer bezels and a higher resolution screen, now at 5.5 inches. It was also the first Pixel to support wireless charging, eliminating the need for a USB-C cable.

The Google Pixel 4, released in October 2019, focused on internal enhancements, including a 90Hz refresh rate display and a camera system with 2x optical zoom. It also came with an increased RAM capacity of 6GB, up from the 4GB in the Pixel 3.
The Google Pixel 4a, launched in August 2020, made trade-offs like omitting the 90Hz refresh rate but improved display brightness to a peak of 796 nits and enhanced power efficiency, offering four additional hours of battery life compared to the Pixel 4.
The Google Pixel 5, released in October 2020, prioritized battery life with a 4080mAh battery, delivering nearly 50% more life per charge than the Pixel 4. It also introduced reverse wireless charging, allowing the phone to charge other devices.
The Google Pixel 5a, launched in August 2021, closely resembles the Pixel 5 but features a slightly larger 6.34" display and a larger 4680mAh battery. However, it does not support wireless charging.
The Google Pixel 6, launched in October 2021, introduced a distinctive new design with a camera bar and was priced $100 less than its predecessor. The Google Pixel 6a, released in July 2022, made some compromises like dropping the refresh rate to 60Hz and reducing RAM to 6GB. Its main camera sensor is a modest 12.2MP compared to the 50MP on the Pixel 6.
The Google Pixel 7, launched in October 2022, offered incremental improvements including a better fingerprint sensor and a redesigned camera bar. The Google Pixel 7a, released on May 10, 2023, features a 64MP main camera and retains the 90Hz refresh rate and 8GB of RAM. It's slightly smaller than the Pixel 7 but offers comparable battery life, with the Pixel 7 supporting faster 20W charging.

The Google Pixel Fold, launched in June 2023, was a significant departure from the traditional Pixel lineup. With a 7.6" foldable display and a standard outer screen, it incorporated the beloved camera features of the Pixel 7 Pro and allowed for versatile camera angles.
The Google Pixel 8, launched in October 2023, brought notable enhancements like a peak brightness of 2000 nits and a 120Hz refresh rate. It followed closely on the heels of the innovative Pixel Fold.

The Google Pixel 8a, released on May 14, 2024, switched to Gorilla Glass 3 for its display. It maintains an OLED display and similar performance to the Pixel 8 but features a 64MP main camera, differing from the 50MP camera on the Pixel 8.
The Google Pixel 9, launched in August 2024, broke tradition by not waiting until October. It introduced Satellite SOS features, a new design, and a triple rear camera. The Pro series even boasts 16GB of RAM, a significant upgrade.
