The excitement around Grand Theft Auto 6 (GTA 6) is palpable, and PC gamers are eagerly awaiting news on whether it will be available on their platform. While an official announcement for GTA 6 on PC remains elusive, comments from Take-Two Interactive CEO Strauss Zelnick hint at a promising future for PC players.
GTA 6 on PC Unconfirmed, But Take-Two Shows Interest

In a recent interview with IGN on February 10, 2025, Zelnick shed light on the release strategies of Rockstar Games. He mentioned that while Civilization 7 will launch simultaneously on console and PC, Rockstar typically rolls out their games on different platforms over time. "Historically, Rockstar has started with some platforms and then historically moved to other platforms," Zelnick noted.
This approach was evident with GTA 5, which initially launched on PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 in September 2013, followed by PlayStation 4 and Xbox One in November 2014, and finally on PC in April 2015. Similarly, Red Dead Redemption 2 followed suit, debuting on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One in October 2018, before making its way to PC in November 2019.
While GTA 6's PC release is not yet confirmed, Zelnick's comments suggest that Take-Two is interested in bringing the game to PC eventually. Fans had hoped for a simultaneous launch across all platforms, but the historical pattern indicates a staggered release might be more likely.
Take-Two Confident About GTA 6 Sales Across All Platforms

Zelnick emphasized the growing significance of the PC market for their titles, noting that PC versions can account for up to 40% of a game's total sales. "We have seen PC become a much more and more important part of what used to be a console business, and I wouldn't be surprised to see that trend continue," he remarked.
Despite reports of declining console sales for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S, Zelnick remains optimistic about GTA 6's performance across all platforms. He believes the game will not only sell well but also boost console sales for Sony and Xbox. "When you have a big title in the market and we have many of them coming, historically that has sold consoles," he explained.
Zelnick also addressed concerns about console sales, stating, "And I think that will happen this year. I don't think tariffs are going to be our friend, but I think there will be a meaningful uptick in console sales in calendar 25 because of the release schedule, not just coming from us, but coming from others. So I'm not concerned about that [console sales falling]. I think the trend that you'd want to focus on is this increasing share of the market that is reflected in PC."
GTA 6 is slated for a Fall 2025 release, though a specific date has yet to be announced. Stay tuned to our Grand Theft Auto 6 page for the latest updates on the game.
More Take-Two and Rockstar Games Possibly Releasing on Switch 2

During the Take-Two Interactive Q3 Fiscal Conference Call on February 6, 2025, Zelnick expressed enthusiasm about bringing their titles to the upcoming Switch 2 console. He highlighted their long-standing relationship with Nintendo and the evolving demographics of the Switch's audience. "We've had obviously a long-standing relationship with Nintendo, and we've supported the platform when it made sense for the individual release," he stated.
Zelnick noted that the Switch is no longer just for younger audiences but can cater to any demographic. With Civilization 7 already announced for the Switch, he added, "As you may have noted, Civilization 7 is now on Switch. So while we have nothing specific to report, we actually would fully expect to support Switch."
