Take-Two Interactive Prepares for a Landmark Year
Grand Theft Auto 6 Remains on Track for Fall 2025 Launch

Grand Theft Auto 6 is reportedly progressing toward its planned Fall 2025 release. During Take-Two Interactive's Q3 earnings conference call held on February 7, 2025, company leadership provided updates on the current development status and forthcoming major releases scheduled throughout the year.
Take-Two Interactive CEO Strauss Zelnick conveyed his strong belief that GTA 6 will meet its Fall 2025 target, while acknowledging the inherent unpredictability of game development. "Look, there's always a risk of slippage and I think as soon as you say words like absolutely, you jinx things," Zelnick stated, keeping the door open for potential adjustments if needed.
Despite this cautious approach, Zelnick emphasized that the team "feels really good about" the projected release timeframe. While remaining tight-lipped about specific development details, he explained, "We know that Rockstar seeks perfection. I never claim success before it occurs. I'm fond of saying arrogance is the enemy of continued success, so we're all running scared and looking over our shoulders and we know that the competition is not asleep. Our whole organization is super excited."
Take-Two Interactive's 2025 Release Schedule

Zelnick highlighted the significance of 2025 for the company, describing it as potentially "one of the strongest ever for Take-Two." The company's release calendar includes Sid Meier's Civilization VII, which launched in Early Access recently with its official release scheduled for February 11th, followed by Mafia: The Old Country in summer, Grand Theft Auto VI in fall, and Borderlands 4 before the year concludes.
Regarding the commercial outlook for these upcoming titles, Zelnick expressed considerable optimism, stating, "We are exceedingly optimistic about the commercial potential of our titles and believe that they will have a transformative effect on our business – and our industry – over the long term."
Looking further ahead, Take-Two Interactive management remains "highly confident that we will achieve sequential increases in, and record levels of, Net Bookings in Fiscal 2026 and 2027," indicating strong expectations for continued growth beyond the current release cycle.
Grand Theft Auto V Reaches 210 Million Units Sold Worldwide

The Grand Theft Auto franchise continues to be Take-Two's flagship property, with GTA V surpassing 210 million units sold globally. GTA Online experienced another strong quarter, bolstered by its holiday update "Agents of Sabotage." The GTA+ membership program also demonstrated consistent growth, achieving a 10% year-over-year increase in subscribers.
Other Take-Two titles also delivered impressive performances during the third quarter. NBA 2K25 has sold over 7 million units to date while showing substantial growth in player engagement metrics, with "Recurrent Consumer Spending up over 30%, Daily Active Users up nearly 20%, and Monthly Active Users up nearly 10%."
Red Dead Redemption 2 continues to expand its player base, having sold more than 70 million copies. Red Dead Online maintains momentum through regular content updates, including the recent fan-favorite Halloween Pass. The game recently achieved its highest concurrent player count on Steam, reaching 99,993 players according to SteamDB data.
GTA V Actor Clarifies His Relationship With Trevor Character
Speculation has circulated among fans that Steven Ogg, the actor who portrayed Trevor in Grand Theft Auto V, resents being associated with the iconic character. During a recent appearance on the Inside You podcast, Ogg addressed these rumors directly.
The actor clarified that reports of him disliking his character are completely unfounded. He explained that his reluctance to be called by his character's name stems from it simply not being his actual identity. "When people call you by your character name, it's kinda weird because I kinda get it, but I'm also like meh," Ogg commented.
He went on to describe Trevor as "a great character" and "awesome," noting that he maintains friendships with his former co-stars, saying "I still see [Fonteno, Franklin's actor] and Ned [Luke, Michael's actor], we're friends. We were just doing a Comic Con this past weekend."
In a previous interview with Screen Rant, Ogg had humorously suggested that Trevor might make a cameo in GTA 6 only to be killed off immediately. However, he confirmed that he has not recorded any content for the upcoming title and has no knowledge regarding potential appearances by his character in the new installment.
Grand Theft Auto 6 is currently scheduled for release in Fall 2025, though no specific launch date has been officially confirmed. Visit our dedicated Grand Theft Auto 6 page for the latest updates and information about the game's development progress.
