Helldivers 2 Update: New Enemies, Weapon Customization, and Superstore Overhaul

May 25,2025 Author: Jonathan

Helldivers 2 has just rolled out a significant update with patch 01.003.000, available now on PC and PlayStation 5. This update introduces a host of new features, including fresh Illuminate enemies, weapon customization and progression, and changes to the Superstore. Developer Arrowhead had been teasing these additions, and now they're live, enhancing the gameplay experience for all Helldivers.

The update marks the start of a full-scale invasion by the Illuminate alien faction. New enemies like the Stingray jetfighters, which provide aerial support and execute devastating strafing runs, and the Crescent Overseer, capable of barraging Helldivers even in cover, have been introduced. Additionally, the Fleshmob—a "failed" Illuminate experiment described as a brute battlefield force made from Voteless parts—adds a new challenge that Helldivers must overcome.

Arrowhead has hinted at sightings of even larger ships, suggesting that more surprises may await players upon diving back into the game.

For the first time, most primary weapons can now be leveled up by completing missions, unlocking new attachments through Requisition. Players can also customize their weapons with various patterns, enhancing both the visual appeal and performance on the battlefield.

Here’s the official description:

Whether it's tweaking sights for precision, changing color patterns, adjusting magazines for ammo capacity, muzzles to optimize weapon performance characteristics or adjusting under-barrel attachments for the handling you want, you're in command of how your weaponry performs on the battlefield. This level of individual attunement is sure to make your favorite primary best in its class.

Arrowhead has also unlocked and deployed a stash of patterns for the FRV themed on the Viper Commandos, Freedom's Flame, Chemical Agents, and Truth Enforcers Warbonds.Arrowhead has also released a collection of patterns for the FRV themed on the Viper Commandos, Freedom's Flame, Chemical Agents, and Truth Enforcers Warbonds. These patterns will become available starting May 15, coinciding with the launch of the Masters of Ceremony Warbond.

And finally, the Superstore has been changed so items you want are always available, as opposed to players having to wait for items to come back into rotation. The Superstore has also seen changes to ensure that desired items are always available, eliminating the wait for items to cycle back into rotation.

Beyond these new features, patch 01.003.000 includes an extensive balance pass with adjustments to spread, drag, sway, melee weapons stamina cost, shrapnel spawning, and fire damage, ensuring a more refined and balanced gameplay experience.
