Hyper Light Breaker: How to Get New Weapons

Feb 27,2025 Author: Peyton

Hyper Light Breaker boasts a diverse arsenal, and a solid weapon is crucial for any successful build. While you begin with basic equipment, the game offers opportunities to acquire more powerful weapons tailored to your preferred playstyle. This guide explains how to obtain and upgrade weapons in this unique blend of roguelike and extraction mechanics.

Acquiring New Weapons

Explore the Overgrowths! New gear, including weapons, is discovered organically during exploration. However, for targeted weapon acquisition, locate the sword (Blades) or pistol (Rails) icons on the map.

Blades are melee weapons with diverse movesets and special abilities. Rails are ranged weapons, each with unique functionalities. Both weapon types come in varying rarities, with gold being the most potent. Rarity directly correlates with weapon stats; rarer equals better.

To save weapons for later use, press the Cache button instead of Equip. Cached weapons are accessible for future runs by adjusting your loadout before embarking on a new adventure.

Obtaining New Starting Weapons

Expand your starting arsenal by purchasing weapons from merchants at the Cursed Outpost. Initially, only the Blades merchant is available. Unlocking the Rails merchant requires sufficient materials to repair their shop.

Merchants have limited stock, but their inventory refreshes periodically. If the initial selection doesn't meet your needs, check back later for new options.

Weapon Upgrades

Enhance your weapons by upgrading them at the Outpost merchants. However, the upgrade function must first be unlocked by increasing your affinity with the merchants. This requires Golden Rations, a rare resource found through exploration or cycle resets. Use Golden Rations judiciously, as they are scarce.

Death has consequences: equipped weapons lose a segment of durability (indicated by the bar below their icons) upon each death. Repeated deaths will eventually break your weapons.
