Following the release of Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver 1 & 2 Remastered in December 2024, Crystal Dynamics, the renowned California-based game developer, has announced two exciting new projects for the Legacy of Kain franchise. In collaboration with the UK-based creative design studio Lost In Cult and the Dutch art dealership Cook and Becker, these projects aim to reimmerse fans into the rich world of Nosgoth.
"We’re incredibly excited to be diving back into the world of Nosgoth with these two passion projects," said Ryan Brown of Lost In Cult. The first project, The Book of Nosgoth, is an official encyclopedia crafted by Nic Reuben of Rock Paper Shotgun. This comprehensive guide will delve into the gothic setting of Nosgoth, detailing its locations, factions, and inhabitants. A detailed timeline will chart the epic saga of Kain and Raziel, providing fans with a deep understanding of the series' narrative arc.
Beyond its lore, The Book of Nosgoth will offer behind-the-scenes insights into the development of the Legacy of Kain games. Expect original concept art, sketches, maps, and exclusive interviews with the developers, offering a unique look into the creation of all five Legacy of Kain titles.
The second project, Legacy of Kain: Scourge of Sarafan, is an atmospheric TTRPG set during the Sarafan Order’s crusade against vampires. Utilizing the MÖRK BORG ruleset, this game promises a mechanics-light yet high-stakes experience where players assume the roles of warrior priests. With six playable classes, unique weapons and spells, and an official bestiary of nocturnal horrors, players can explore Nosgoth’s vast landscape and uncover its hidden history while engaging in vampire hunts and spectral realm incursions.
