Demon Mode/Demon Gauge and Archdemon Mode

The Dual Blades feature a unique gauge mechanic, allowing players to enter Demon Mode for increased attack, movement speed, and evasion, along with knockback immunity. While in Demon Mode, stamina depletes continuously, and the mode ends either by manual cancellation or when stamina hits zero.

Attacks in Demon Mode fill the Demon Gauge, and once it's full, players transition to Archdemon Mode. Here, the Demon Gauge decreases over time and can be consumed by certain attacks, enabling hunters to unleash powerful, boosted attacks.

Both modes can be utilized interchangeably, and when mounting a monster, the Demon Gauge stops decreasing, providing a strategic advantage as you plan your next move.

Demon Dodge

After a successful Perfect Evade, players can enter an empowered state that increases regular and elemental damage and allows attacks during dodging. Demon Dodge provides a damage buff for 12 seconds, and subsequent dodges cause damage as you spin forward.

Combos

The Dual Blades' combos revolve around Demon and Archdemon Modes, and understanding how to chain attacks effectively is key to maximizing damage.

Basic Combo

Chain the standard Triangle/Y attack three times for a reliable combo: Double Slash, Double Slash Return Stroke, and Circle Slash. This sequence is effective in various situations during a hunt.

Alternatively, use the Circle/B Demon Flurry Rush – Spinning Slash – Double Roundslash combo to quickly fill your Demon Gauge.

Demon Mode Basic Combo

In Demon Mode, your basic combo becomes more powerful and faster. Start with Demon Fangs, followed by Twofold Demon Slash, Sixfold Demon Slash, and finish with Triangle/Y + Circle/B for Demon Flurry I.

Archdemon Mode Blade Dance Combo

Once your Demon Gauge is full, enter Archdemon Mode for swift, concentrated damage. Begin with Blade Dance (Triangle/Y + Circle/B) in Demon Mode, then press R2/RT four times for Demon Flurry I into Blade Dance II, and conclude with Demon Flurry II and Blade Dance III. This seamless transition between modes delivers immense damage quickly.

Dual Blade Tips

Always Follow Up

Start with the basic Demon Flurry Rush combo (Circle/B + Circle/B + Circle/B), then transition into a full Demon or Archdemon Mode combo (three sets of Triangle/Y + Circle/B). This fills the Demon Gauge and converts it into rapid damage, a feat not achievable with weapons like the Great Sword.

Keep Your Stamina Up

Since Demon Mode relies on stamina, maintaining high levels is crucial. While you can exit the mode to recover, using Focus Strike on wounds can stop stamina drain during the attack and fill the Demon Gauge, preparing you for more aggressive assaults.

Dodging in Between Attacks

Without reliable defense, dodging is your best bet. The Dual Blades offer superior mobility, allowing you to dodge out of most attacks and combos. Avoid being overly aggressive and wait for the right moment to strike.

Ensure Sharpness

The constant flurry of attacks with Dual Blades can quickly dull your weapons. Utilize the Speed Sharpening skill in your build to minimize downtime and stay in the fight longer.

Mastering the Dual Blades in *Monster Hunter Wilds* requires a blend of speed, strategy, and stamina management. By following these tips and mastering the combos, you'll be well on your way to dominating the battlefield. For more insights and guides on the game, be sure to visit The Escapist.
