Mastering Monster Capture Techniques in Monster Hunter Wilds

Slaying monsters in *Monster Hunter Wilds* is thrilling, but capturing them is essential if you want to collect all their valuable parts. Here's a comprehensive guide on how to effectively capture monsters in the game.

Capturing Monsters in Monster Hunter Wilds

Capturing monsters in *Monster Hunter Wilds* is straightforward yet requires precision. The key is to weaken the monster first, then use a trap followed by a Tranq item to secure your catch. It's easier than it sounds!

Your Palico will alert you when a monster is weak, but there are other indicators too. Look for a skull icon over the monster's symbol on your minimap, and watch for signs like limping or drooling, which signal low HP.

Once the monster is sufficiently weakened, it's time to set your trap. Choose between a Shock Trap or a Pitfall Trap and place it strategically on the ground. Lure the monster into the trap, and once it's caught, you have a brief window to use Tranq Bombs. Typically, one or two Tranq Bombs will suffice. Alternatively, you can use Tranq Ammo or Tranq Blades, depending on your weapon and preferred playstyle.

Successfully capturing a monster will conclude your quest and return you to Base Camp.

How to Get Traps and Tranq Items

While your Palico might occasionally set traps, it's wise to bring your own. There are two types of traps: Pitfall Traps and Shock Traps. To craft a Pitfall Trap, you'll need a Trap Tool and either Spiderwebs or Ivy. For a Shock Trap, combine a Trap Tool with a Thunderbug Capacitor.

For Tranq items, you can craft Tranq Bombs using a Sleep Herb and a Parashroom. These can then be combined with Throwing Knives to create Tranq Blades or with Normal Ammo to make Tranq Ammo.

That's the complete guide on capturing monsters in *Monster Hunter Wilds*. For more tips and detailed information on the game, be sure to check out The Escapist.
