Monster Hunter Wilds: Top Weapon Tier List

Mar 13,2025 Author: Patrick

Let's be clear: there's no single "best" weapon in Monster Hunter Wilds. Forget the quest for a universally overpowered option; hunt success hinges on your skill and enjoyment. Consistent hits, efficient hunts, and most importantly, having fun—that's the true measure of success.

Building a successful weapon loadout involves more than just weapon choice. Armor, decorations, and the right Artian weapon for each monster are crucial. But if you're aiming for faster hunt times, these weapon types are excellent starting points. This tier list blends IGN community rankings, online sentiment, my own experience (considering mastery difficulty), and current speedrun data.

Monster Hunter Wilds Weapon Tier List

Monster Hunter Wilds Best Weapons Tier List

===========================================

The top contenders in Monster Hunter Wilds are the Sword and Shield, Great Sword, Long Sword, Gunlance, and Bow. These weapons stand out for various reasons (detailed below), but remember, all weapons are viable.

S-tier: These offer a potent blend of damage and ease of use. The Gunlance is the most technically demanding here, but its power makes it worthwhile, according to the community.

Sword and Shield
Great Sword
Long Sword
Gunlance
Bow

A-tier:

A-tier weapons can rival S-tier with skilled players. They often demand more technical proficiency and precise execution, or they might fall slightly short in raw power. The Hunting Horn, while perhaps less effective solo, excels in cooperative hunts.

Insect Glaive
Charge Blade
Dual Blades
Hunting Horn
Heavy Bowgun
Switch Axe

B-tier:

These weapons may require more effort and finely tuned builds to match the performance of S and A-tier weapons, but that doesn't diminish their value. They're still excellent choices.

Lance
Hammer
Light Bowgun

Why only three tiers? As stated earlier, there's no single "best" weapon. Weapon effectiveness varies depending on the monster. Don't let tier lists limit your enjoyment; even B-tier weapons are highly effective.
