Path of Exile 2: Citadel Locations Guide

Mar 14,2025 Author: Mia

After conquering the main campaign and tackling Acts 1-3 on Cruel difficulty, Path of Exile 2 players unlock the Endgame and the Atlas of Worlds. This sprawling map introduces unique structures offering diverse gameplay—Realmgates, Lost Towers, the Burning Monolith, and the elusive Citadels.

Unlike the readily visible Lost Towers and the centrally located Realmgate and Burning Monolith, Citadels present a greater challenge to locate. However, the 0.1.1 update enhances their visibility, making them easier to spot from a distance. If you're still struggling, these tips will help you uncover these valuable endgame objectives.

What are Citadels in PoE 2?

Citadels are unique map nodes in Path of Exile 2, existing in three variations: Iron, Copper, and Stone. Each houses a significantly powered-up campaign boss: Count Geonor (Iron), Jamanra, the Abomination (Copper), and Doryani (Stone). Defeating these bosses yields a Crisis Fragment—a key to the Burning Monolith and its pinnacle boss, the Arbiter of Ash, and completing the "Pinnacle of Flame" quest.

  • Iron Citadel: Count Geonor (Act 1 boss). Appears as a large city with black walls.
  • Copper Citadel: Jamanra, the Abomination (Act 2 boss). Resembles a large encampment surrounding the map node.
  • Stone Citadel: Doryani (Act 3 boss). Looks like a stone pyramid, reminiscent of Act 3 ziggurats.

Accessing a Citadel requires a Waystone of at least Tier 15. Remember, each Citadel offers only one attempt; defeat the boss or face the consequences. Besides Crisis Fragments, Citadels offer exceptional loot.

How to Find More Citadels in PoE 2

Path of Exile 2 Atlas Map

The 0.1.1 update significantly improves Citadel visibility on the Atlas map. A bright beacon now marks their location, even through the Fog of War. If you're still searching, try these strategies:

Travel in a straight line to reveal more of the Atlas map. Investigate any Lost Towers you encounter; clearing them reveals a significant area, potentially uncovering nearby Citadels. Consider the biomes:

  • Iron Citadels: Grass or Forest biomes
  • Copper Citadels: Desert biomes
  • Stone Citadels: Coastal areas of any biome

Citadels rarely cluster. After finding one, explore a completely different area of the Atlas. With the 0.1.1 update, the beacons should be visible within a few screens of your explored territory. If not, continue traveling in a straight line—the beacon will eventually guide you.
