Hollow Knight: Silksong is set to launch in 2025, marking a highly anticipated moment for fans of the beloved series. Dive into the details of the game and its tumultuous journey to this exciting announcement.
After years of fervent anticipation and swirling rumors, fans of the critically acclaimed Hollow Knight series finally have a release window to celebrate. On April 2, 2025, during the Nintendo Switch 2 Direct presentation, Team Cherry unveiled that Hollow Knight: Silksong is slated for a 2025 release.
The announcement came as a fleeting yet impactful part of a montage showcasing upcoming games for the Nintendo Switch 2. The segment, which lasted just five seconds (from 0:15 to 0:20 in the Switch 2: Partner Sizzle Reel), has reignited excitement among the global fanbase. For a project that had been shrouded in silence for years, this confirmation is a breath of fresh air.
The journey to this announcement has been fraught with twists and turns. Initially planned as an expansion to the original Hollow Knight, Silksong transformed into a standalone sequel due to its ambitious scope. However, updates on its development have been scarce, fueling a cycle of speculation and anticipation.
A notable moment came in June 2022 when a trailer was unveiled during an Xbox event, raising hopes for an imminent release. Yet, subsequent delays quelled these expectations. Recent updates to the game's Steam page, including a 2025 copyright date and compatibility with GeForce Now, hinted at progress but left fans craving more definitive news. The appearance of Silksong in the Nintendo Switch 2 Direct a week later solidified the 2025 release window, much to the delight of fans.
As the 2025 release date draws nearer, the anticipation and excitement continue to build. Fans are eagerly awaiting the chance to experience the unique world of Silksong and hear the iconic "SHAW" once again.
