Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 is celebrating its first anniversary the way an Ultramarine does best: with heavy firepower and more Chaos to vanquish. Read on to discover the latest confirmed details from Saber Interactive and Focus Entertainment about this upcoming update.
Space Marine 2 Receives a Major September Update and Year 2 Content
New PvP and PvE Missions, Enemies, Maps, Weapons, Class, and Additional Features!

Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 is nearing its one-year milestone, but the Emperor's duty never ends. Saber Interactive and Focus Entertainment have confirmed that the co-op shooter is expanding further, with a "large-scale update" scheduled for September and another full year of both free and paid content officially confirmed. This shift is largely due to the fact that much of the content originally planned for Update 9 has been moved to Update 10, meaning Update 9 will mainly focus on balance adjustments.
In a recent community update on Steam, Saber and Focus outlined their plans moving forward as they prepare to support Space Marine 2 well into 2026. "We're thrilled to announce that a second year of content—including both free updates and DLC available through a new yearly season pass—is on the way!" the studio stated. "Anticipate new PvE missions, enemies, weapons, and... much more."
And "much more" seems to be carrying significant weight here. While development on Space Marine 3 is officially underway, the teams' hints about future plans in their post indicate they remain committed to their promise of ongoing support for Space Marine 2, though many specifics are still being kept under wraps.

The upcoming 10.0 update, planned for September, serves as the centerpiece of the anniversary celebration and promises a substantial collection of new features. A standout addition is a new PvP mode, though fans will need to wait a bit longer. Originally planned for the 9.0 update this summer, the mode is now scheduled to launch in September.
Saber Interactive and Focus Entertainment haven't revealed all the details yet, but the new mode appears to set Chaos against Chaos on a completely new map, a departure from the standard "Loyalist VS Chaos" format seen in regular PvP. Players will also get to control the Helbrute, one of Space Marine 2's boss enemies, alongside access to "new Chaos armours" and the Power Axe, complete with its own unique moveset and execution animations. So far, only a work-in-progress model of this weapon has been shown.
Also on the way is a new playable class: the Techmarine. While Saber and Focus have chosen not to share further details at this time, it's speculated that this class, known in Warhammer 40k lore as the engineers and battlefield mechanics of the Adeptus Astartes, may specialize in repairing machinery and reinforcing defenses during combat.
They did confirm, however, that the Techmarine class will be available in both PvE and PvP modes. Keen players can look forward to more information in upcoming community updates, expected to arrive later in July and August as the studio gears up for the major September patch.

Looking ahead, players can anticipate a steady stream of new content throughout Year 2. The new season pass will include both free updates and premium DLC, continuing the model Saber established during the game's first year.
While a specific release date for Update 9.0 hasn't been set, the studio indicates it should arrive sometime this summer. More details concerning the 10.0 update, the Chaos PvP mode, and the Techmarine class are expected to be shared in forthcoming community posts throughout July and August.
